2025 LV County Veterans Day Parade
In recognition of their lifelong service to our nation and community, Mr. Garry R. Neal and Mr. James Lane Timmons (Toot) have been posthumously honored as Grand Marshals of this year’s parade.

Mr. Garry R. Neal

Posthumous Grand Marshal

​

Mr. Garry R. Neal dedicated his life to service—both to his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Army and the Air National Guard for over 21 years, including tours in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. His military career was marked by courage, commitment, and honor.

​

Among his distinguished recognitions, Mr. Neal was awarded:  Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with 2 devices; Air Force Longevity Service Award with 2 devices; National Defense Service Medal

​

Beyond his military service, Mr. Neal was a pillar of the Leavenworth community. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 7, where he served twice as Commander. His civic involvement extended to the St. Casimir’s Men’s Society, the Independence Fire Company #76, and the Eagles Arie #55.

Mr. Neal’s legacy is one of unwavering patriotism, leadership, and community spirit. His contributions continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.

Mr. James Lane Timmons (Toot)

Posthumous Grand Marshal

Mr. James Lane Timmons, affectionately known as “Toot,” was a proud patriot whose life was defined by service and joy. He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 1, 1958, and retired on July 1, 1988, after 20 years of active duty and 10 years in the reserves. His dedication to the Navy and his country was steadfast and honorable.

James was a member of the American Legion, the National Veteran’s Honor Society, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was known not only for his military service but also for his love of music and travel.

 

He enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, and exploring the country in his RV. A true patriot, James found joy in playing the bugle, often sharing his music with others as a tribute to those who served.

 

His warmth, talent, and devotion to his country left a lasting impression on all who knew him.​​
